Observation details
My first thought was this is a Townsend's Solitaire. The first behavior it exhibited was the pumping of its tail, phoebe like. I observed the two distinct wing bars and that all the feathers looked fresh leading me to conclude this was first year bird.I then noticed its complete eye ring, some olive coloring on the wing coverts, and how the underparts were lighter than the upper parts. Another observation was the orange color of the lower mandible and the dark upper mandible that came to a point. When it flew it looked most like a Say's Phoebe, and had white on the outer tail feathers. Although no experience with Grey Flycatchers , that's the conclusion I came to after consulting Sibley's.
