NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 5. Bulk reel: 423 Weather: Fair. a) 6:00 AM. One typical "flicker" call of a foraging bird. This bird is probably the male, mate of the female of Cut #4. Quality: 1. Level: 5. b) 6:25 AM. by this time the male had moved closer to me in its foraging and I recorded additional "flicker" calls. At one point a Chrysoptilus punctigula tried to forage close to the large woodpecker and there are heard some bother notes. (Probably it was objecting to the presence of the larger bird near its nest. Some of these are obviously of the Lineated. Others may be of the smaller woodpecker. (+/- natural interval). c) 6:35 AM. After I played back the "flicker" call, the bird in apparent annoyance gave some chip-urr calls. Quality: 1. Level: 5. Sound stimulation was (other): playback own call.
