Observation details
Small, compact empidonax flycatcher first detected by call--a metallic "whit" sharper and louder than a Willow (which were also heard/seen in the same tree). The bird continued to call repeatedly while it foraged mostly near eye level or just above. Very dark, blackish wings with contrasting white wing bars noted. Short bill, relatively wide at base, with some darkish coloration seen towards the front of the lower mandible. Complete white eye ring, relatively thin, without any obvious teardrop behind the eye.
