NOTES: Cut 6; This is a partial recording of a very prolonged and intense song duel and aerial chase between two males, apparently disputing territory. No female in evidence. Took place for about 1/2 hour or more, between 3 and 4 pm. The arena was a mixed conifer-poplar forest, fairly mature. The birds chased one another in loops and circles through understory generally returning to approximately same area but moving 200yds over 1/2 hour. Excited chipping during aerial chase. Alternate and sometimes overlapping singing from perches not over 6feet high and usually les sthan 6feet apart. Almost continuous movement and activity. One bird appeared to have a more complete, slatrlyic [can't make out letters.mf] song, the other less complete and more variable. Also: Ovenbird, reflector, p boat, annc't 105 red-eyed vireo Q 2-3,2,1-2.
