NOTES: (Breeding Status: Breeding. Behav. Context: Perhaps also mate contact. General Climate: Cyclic wet-dry. Habitat Types: Sandy/loam. Cover Density: Medium.) Tape counter 340-371. Pecking at a ring of drill holes in a poplar tree. In this largely deciduous woods, based on sandy loam soil, there are a number of pairs of YB Sapsuckers nesting, as well as Yellow-throated Vireo, Red-shouldered Hawk, Cooper's Hawk, Barred Owl--all somewhat rare for this area. Other Behaviors: Advertise, Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Forest, Coniferous Forest, Deciduous Forest, Creek, Sand.
