NOTES: DRUMS. CALLS OF YOUNG. BEST TOWARD END. [As far as I can determine the calls in the foreground were all given by the same individual, presumably a fledged juvenile based on the above note. Most calls here are the grating churrs or buzzes typical of young birds, but there are also 37 examples of the fast "Wuk Series Call" (see p. 420 of Short, L. L. 1982. Woodpeckers of the World. Delaware Mus. Nat. Hist. 4:1-676), and many slower "Wuk" Series, all apparently given by the same bird. In the background are additional "Wuk Series Calls", a Drum at 12:55, and "Wok" Calls, the latter at 7:29-7:33, 11:16-11:18, 11:20-11:21, and 12:16-12:20. Quality changed from 1 to 1-2 (though approaching quality 1 later in recording) - CAM - 9 May 2005]. Same subject(s) as LNS 6839. Other Behaviors: Bill Drumming. Habitat: Forest.
