Media notes
crummy flight picture. Looked like no white rump and no prominent white stripe on wing.
Observation details
Thought BBPL initially bc they are most commonly seen here. Distinct supercilium and cap. Saw fly twice - good look at underwing - no black wingpits or white stripe on top of wing or white rump. First view was from about 10 m through Swarovski 10x. Second view was from about 25 m through binocs. Appeared long legged. Relatively short bill. Cheek spot quite prominent. Slight yellow cast to plumage. Faint spotting on nape. Buff on belly extended nearly to undertail coverts. White saddle around bill and lores prominent. Primaries extended beyond tail. Primary projection greater than bill length. Vocalized once on landing - a soft pluuu, didn't match any Sibley plover calls I could find. Foraged around but not with peeps. Distinctly larger than peeps. Closer to Killdeer sized which were also around. Have more photos from various angles. Originally put down as Pacific Golden but after consultation and taking closer look at primary projection and bill length, changed to American.
