Observation details
This bird was found feeding along the edge of the middle lagoon. Jeremy Bensette was kind enough to consult with me on this sighting and gave the following feedback:Hi John, certainly a Glossy to my eyes! The pale coloured border to the facial skin confirms it. This feature superficially seems to exist on White-faced, but it is only made by feathers in breeding plumage birds. When they are immature or in basic plumage they do not show any sign of this whitish border. Not to be mistaken with the whitish streak that runs up above the eye area, which is a feature on very young juvenal plumage in both species (the same goes for large white patches in the throat of very young plumaged individuals).
