NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 70. Bulk reel: 384 First activity today: display @ 5:50 AM, above the road, then ~ 5:53 a display below the road. After that, three more displays (none recorded due to traffic interference). Recording begins with reflector focused on bird in tree overhead, where he alighted after a display flight. However, it turns out that there were other birds there, or near, and a conflict situation develops. What the conflict was all about I don't know; probably over territory or a pair relationship. There were @ least three birds involved; although I never saw more than three at one time, there may have been four. There were apparently two males involved. Perhaps there were two pairs with the females fighting over territory or the males fighting over females and/or territory; this is guessing speculation. This was very close to site of the situation found in cut 68 and may have involved the same birds. 31/III - Very little activity noticed @ km 23 - today: a few displays and a little "ao" callilng; apparently in "semi-conflict"; this was away from road, not the usual place. I/IV - Birds displayed in region below road, in area to where they've been heading recently and app. from there on down slope. 2/IV - Same as above. 3/IV - First activity noticed was display @ ~ 5:45 AM. (I was in area from 5:45 AM); eventuallly some display both above and below road but above close to the road. Original recorded on 139 tape but part was @ 7.5 so the whole was copied @ the single speed of 3 3/4 (N-IV to N-4.2, filtering 60/6000 Hz). Quality: 2. Level: +2. Low noise. Tape: 203.
