NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 13. Bulk reel: 369. Weather: clear. a) 1 "wing-whirr" from a bird almost overhead. *I'm not !00% sure this wing-whirr is of this species but about 3 minutes later a bird that corresponded in position gave squawks as it flew away (recorded but interval not saved) and these are no doubt of this species; also then I heard the normal calls of marail and so I think there's little doubt that this cut is all of marail. Length: 32". Quality: 1-2. Level: +10. Parabola: yes. b) About 10 minutes later in the same spot, another bird (or the same returned? doubtful) started giving the normal calls and then a "wing-whirr". This tends to confirm the identification of part a). Also no granti were heard anywhere in this immediate ara at this time. Length: 49". Quality: 1. Level: +10.
