NOTES: A small amt. of song and some calls from male. Area of abandoned corral. male and female in vicinity of nest with yg. in small shrub about 3' off ground. Mockingbirds sing continuously bg. Also: wind, mockingbirds, E. mdlk, cactus wren, scaled quail, [Black-throated Sparrow]. Q 3 Thrasher's songs and calls are almost entirely masked by song of 2 mcokingbirds in song duel. Ok - for desert scrub bg. [Given that Mimus polyglottos is singing almost throughout, it is often difficult to determine which vocalizatiosn were given by the thrasher. Yet, this recording appears to contain songs or song fragments by the thrasher at 0:27-0:30, 0:355-0:385, 1:34-1:35, 3:595, 4:275-4:285, 4:54, 5:37, 6:285-6:33, 6:385-6:40, 7:005-7:025, 7:345, 7:40, 7:51, 8:40-8:415 (overlapping Mimus song), 8:535-8:545, 8:59-9:01, 9:12-9:14, 9:26-9:27, and 9:34-9:35. The calls at 1:52, 1:54, 2:52, 2:54, 2:55, 3:005, 3:475, 3:50, 4:035, 4:065, 4:135, 4:15, 4:33-4:365 (4 - relatively good), 4:375, 4:39, 4:425, 4:44, 4:47, 4:58-5:065 (7), 5:09, 5:10, 5:115, 5:135-5:18 (4), 5:19, 5:21, 5:23, 5:24, 5:255, 5:265, 5:275, 5:29, 5:335-5:36 (3 - relatively good), 5:39, 5:49, 7:56, 7:57, 8:11, 8:16, 8:19, 8:205, 8:22-8:30 (8 - probably the BEST examples), 9:395, 9:435, 9:465, 9:48, and 10:11 appear to be "Chuck" Calls by this species, but I am less sure about the vocalizations given at 7:16-7:20 (seemingly by the thrasher), or even what species gave the doubled calls at 2:07, 2:105, 2:565, 3:075, and 3:12. Quality added (3, 2 - very little of this is really useable due to constant songs of Mimus in background, but a few calls or song fragments can probably be extracted) - CAM - 2 November 2005].
