Media notes
NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 6. Bulk reel: 308 Weather: Fair. This is a different type of vocalization. It apparently has to do with courtship and it may be of a female calling (soliciting) the male to effect copulation. Quality: 1. Level: 0, +2. 203 tape. Low noise. Note: While the bird was being recorded, another arrived and the two flew to another perch ~ 1.5 m. away and copulated. The action was too fast (and unexpected) for me to see whether the bird being recorded turned out to be the male or the female. The perch where they copulated was ~ 1 m. away from a nest, app. still in construction, for I later saw a bird carry material to the nest, which is only ~ <30 cm. away from a hornet nest.
