Observation details
Massive flock at low tide on the ocean side of the spit. Godwits, sanderlings, and Goldens mixed in. Photo is just a fraction of the flock. It spanned about half a mile of beach. Best photo count with the bulk of flock settled was 901 and there was another set of 250-300 that set down further down the beach at the same time. 1200 is a safe conservative estimate, but lots of birds in motion coming and going, so probably was closer to 1500 in total.
