NOTES: Sirystes sibilator. Neotropical Institute Cut # 3. Bulk reel: 299. Weather: clear. NOTES: These birds had been "singing" naturally ~10:00AM and then stopped. As they did not talk again after I got set up, I played the recordings of Cuts 1 and 2 which I had w/ me (hoping to find the sp. again at the Rio Masparro Dec 1 and 2). Quality: 2; Level: +10. At first the birds stayed quite far away but later w/ more playback, including playing their own song, I got them fairly close, although they always stayed high in the trees. (Coereba flaveola, Trogon viridis in b.g.) Quality: 1-2; Level: +5. 1 of pair collected - male #[specimen number illegible]. Note: This sp. was heard 23/IX/69 near Pedoaza, Hato Coronata [illegible; possibly "~600m"? ] south of Barinas." ML: Subject changed from Sirystes sibilator to S. albocinereus to reflect current taxonomy. -Matt Medler, 9 Dec 2014. Number of individuals=UU1+; Response to playback: Approach.
