Media notes
Although this motmot called almost continuously every afternoon it did not permit close approach for good recording. After trying vainly for several days to obtain a recording of natural song, i obtained the first part of this recording and played it back. The bird approached and called more agitatedly than normal. The flutter of the bird's wings and the rustle of leaves as the bird approached can be heard in this recording. Recorded 15:30-16:30 hours. Habitat: Dense brushy growth and small trees along a weed-choked stream. Cover Density: Thick. Weather: Wind. Sound stimulation was (other): NATURAL(NO PLAYBACK). Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Different song. Habitat: Creek.
