Observation details
This is an estimate based on birds feeding behind the boat in the chum. Also a conservative estimate as it has not been worked out the limits of white in underprimaries of the Atlantic Cory's as far as I know. The majority of Cory's we saw offshore of the shelf break today had some white in the underprimaries, though only some had extensive white pointing to the subspecies from the Mediterranean, Scopoli's. These birds are also more delicate looking than the Atlantic Cory's, with a more gently sloping forehead. We had 30-35 Cory's Shearwaters feeding behind the boat twice today (instances separated by rain storms) and of these feeding birds, most looked to be this type.
