Observation details
Juv with WESA/LESA on near shore off WTP parking lot. Very short, straight bill; white supercilium contrasting with dark face and cap; picking at surface when foraging. More rufous in this bird's plumage than most SESA that occur here, including on some edges or bases of scaps, in the back, through the crown and ear coverts, and faintly on edges of tertials. This is a different individual than the other 2 I recently had at this location--brighter plumage and shorter bill. Edit: This checklist from Ontario shows eastern birds with a similar distribution of rufous in the plumage and finely tipped bill.
