NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 16. Bulk reel: 257 Same birds as Cut 15. Time: 5:40 to 6:10 AM. a) Two natural short drums on their favorite drumming tree. Note that these tend to go a bit longer and in doing so break slightly at end. Quality: 2. Level: 5. b) After playback of a) the pair flew in and both male and female drummed on a tree by the colony of Cacicus cela, the birds of which are prominently heard. (Also a House Wren and Phacellodomus rufifrons. Quality: 1-2. Level: 5. c) I then played back some of b). The pair flew over me to another dead tree and upon alighting gave some fuss notes and then drummed. Saltator orenocensis is heard in background. Quality: 1. Level: 4. Sound stimulation was (other): playback own drums. Response to playback: Approach. Other Behaviors: Bill Drumming.
