Observation details
The GHOW pair appeared at 20:35 at the marsh end of bridge 205, perched within a few feet of each other in a tall, dead tree south of the trail. We might have heard them a few minutes earlier, two low hoots in opposite directions, south and north of the trail. Good looks with binoculars even in the dim light. They stayed for at least ten minutes, hooting to one another, the larger female perched higher and doing most of the hooting. They flew south about 20:45 and we ended our walk.
