These waxwings were making repeated short, clear "see" calls - as I got closer, a male AMKE, which had caught a small mammal, flew out of the tangle, heading upstream, dangling the prey. I infer from this that these short "see" calls were alarms.
Observation details
Estimate - up to 5 seen at one time. Observed one eating a few Prunus virginiana fruits at one point.
