Observation details
One apparent adult with complete-looking cap seen hunting over the channel next to the road. Another individual was perched with one Forster's and three Royal on posts near shore in Lake Pontchartrain at the end of the road. This bird had an incomplete cap, looking like more of a mask, but not with the same bald-headed look as Royal. Maybe a first-year bird, or just a winter adult? I haven't seen this species in winter before. Heavy, blunt red bill with faint black tip unlike longer orange bill of Royal.
