Observation details

evaluating; photos show pale imm Herring type, white-headed, pale, checkered mantle, with some white feathers visible on outer tail; standing with Herring and Ring-billeds for size comparison, it has a rather rounded-looking head; the 2 flight photos are from the next morning, 30 Dec, showing pale inner primaries and very white rump, but can't tell whether greater coverts are barred, as in vega and European; apparently some minority of American Herrings can have paler rumps...comments welcome to taberzz@aol.com.
