Observation details
*continuing second year bird that haunted the army terminal last winter as a juvenile and has now returned. Flew in (from the east?) and landed on the pier at 12:21 as gull numbers started to rise. After a while it was flushed by a car and flew high downriver towards the owls head water treatment plant, but I didn’t see it near the bay ridge pier when I drove down there. First time seeing a glaucous gull that wasn’t a first cycle bird - the dark, dusky affect and pale eyes lent it a rather herring gull-like impression. Photos
