Observation details
A bird of this species was seen flying over the barrel dump on the morning of 5/25 at length in perfect light with 10x Zeiss binoculars. It was not seen that night or the next AM but on the evening of the 26th it was again present in the same area but this time was flying every low up and down the road and the beach. Attempts were made to photograph the bird on Kodachrome. The bird was passing as close as 2 feet form me as I sat on the log. The bird was a very large dark swift with a white throat and undertail coverts. In the center of the back was a large white area which was surrounded (blended into) a yellow area. I was unable to see the white area shown at the base of the wing. The bird was observed for ~1hr on 5/25 and 1/2 hour on 5/26.
