Observation details

Observed drumming on two occasions. Recorded the closest individual vocalizing and more distant individual responding. Kept their distance compared to the small woodpeckers. Red crossbills and a raven can also be heard in the recording. The persistent plucking sound in the background are all the other woodpeckers pecking on trees around me.

Additional species

  • Red Crossbill Loxia curvirostra
  • Common Raven Corvus corax
