Media notes

This was aggressive territorial calling at a Northern Flicker that flew just inside the boundary the RHWO had established over the last couple of weeks. The RHWO landed on a tree trunk about 8 ft from the Flicker and was calling. The Flicker left.

Observation details

Continuing bird. Male has persisted in the same location and has become very territorial. The RHWO has established an area bound by the school yard on one side and roughly the Cove Trail on the other, running from the school parking lot circle to about 50 yards along the tree line. The RHWO is very active and is constantly flying around the area. The sound recording is the RHWO reaching when a Northern Flicker flew within the area. The RHWO landed on a tree close to the Flicker and the Flicker retreated.
