Observation details

Marked rare. Continuing bird helpfully pointed out by other birders. Smaller than nearby Canada Geese, had orange bill, white front of face, orange legs, white line on flanks, and black markings on belly. First seen resting on mudflats, later moved into river about halfway between Hunting Creek Bridge and the North Parking Area, where it was still present when I departed at around 1:20. Will submit photos. My first for Virginia.
