Observation details
Walking around southern perimeter and noticed a much paler manu near some obvious kolea/PGPL by the dock (specifically at 20.79470, -156.47315); obvious pluvialis as I got closer, with no gold (mostly grey/light brown), a subtly heftier bill, and black 'armpits' revealed later in flight. In the field, a noticeably different impression from paler winter kolea I’ve seen over the years. Foraged near a single kolea for several min before giving a very BBPL-like call and relocating to the pond closest to parking; it landed but I but lost it on my slow chase trying not to spook other manu, gone when I got there and never noticed it take off.
