positive ID, observed the bird seen in these photos making this bill-clapping and vocal call

Observation details

Male, performing his beatbox routine atop a prominent mound close to the road. If any life bird sighting on this trip stays with me a long time, it certainly ought to be this one. the pattern after some silence was to start clacking his bill, which became steady and loud. Then it softened slightly in volume, continuing, as he started to call vocally. Continuing both a little hesitantly, then both became steady together. A few seconds of that, taper off, rest again .. then repeat. Photos and recording TBA.
