Observation details

1 heard calling spontaneously near 37.848401 / -121.789619, which is inside the East Contra Costa Christmas Count circle. After it stopped calling, I played a Merlin recording of Canyon Wren call and it responded by calling vigorously but it did not come in closer to allow for a better recording. Estimated location of second bird was near 37.84341 / -121.78481, which may or may not be inside the East Contra Costa Christmas Count circle so it wasn't counted for the Xmas Count list. I did playback of Canyon Wren calls and heard nothing but then got calls in response to playback of a Canyon Wren song. Joan Hamilton made the attached recording of the second bird.
