Observation details
The ID consensus for this bird seems to largely favour Salvin's, with room for doubt for both MacGillivray's and Antarctic. Flight was dynamic and confident. The combination of the small unguis, steep (with a bulge) forehead, long bill that's not too deep, bridle-like mark on the cheek, undertail barring, even supercilium across the length of it (vs a wedge-shaped tip between the bill and eye for Antarctic), overall darker bill - all point towards this being more likely a Salvin's (I say so with some trepidation! - RS).
