Observation details
First seen, along with several other birders, at quite a distance east of Pine Run boat launch, among a group of CANG and MALL. I was uncertain of the ID of this bird due to distance and distortion on the water, even with a scope. To me, the all-black bill looked straight in profile and when looking direstly at me, had a slight V-shape where the bill meets the forehead. Other noted features were a somewhat rounded back. Initial thoughts were Trumpeter Swan, but I told the others I would wait to see my photos when I got home.
