Observation details
We had been observing White-crowned Sparrows, but they moved on from our position. Suddenly, one flew back across the tangled vegetation in front of us and landed. Looking through binoculars at the sparrow, it turned out to be a Common Ground-Dove. That's how small it was -- it seemed sparrow-sized in flight. Tiny pinkish gray dove with bright pink bill, scalloping on chest and neck, and lots of black splotching on the wings.
