Observation details
Got distracted by this adult Herring. Mantle was a shade darker than the rest, not much in the way of head markings, apical spots seemed smaller than the others, and bill pattern was quite different being pale-based and with a large black area by the gony. Shape of bill seemed more slender or elongated but that may be an illusion from the colours. But everything else seems fine for an Am Herring Gull. Overall body size and structure not noticeably different than the many nearby Herring Gulls. Photographed.
