Observation details
Continuing behind Nature Center up the slope to the NE. Thanks to Karen S. for pointing out the bird atop a dead snag. On site about 11:40 - 12:30 p.m. A medium-to-large sized flycatcher, pale gray below, medium gray-brown above. Seen from well below the bird, photos helped to see the rather long bill, with bright, orange lower mandible. Dark brown eye. Obvious crest shown a times, diffuse grayish wash to the upper breast but not forming a vest, and pale yellowy wash to lower belly, flanks. Two indistinct pale wingbars and relatively long, gray tail showing whitish outer edgings reminiscent of a Junco. Wings extending well beyon the undertail coverts.
