Observation details

Flat-headed sparrow with large bill, notable white eye ring, orange patch above eye, pale buffy face with dark spot on auriculars, scaly / rufous spots on back, all helping to separate from Savannah and other sparrows. It landed on the path right in front of me where it stayed just long enough for a photo, this was at 37.184061, -122.375119. Quite rare for December (looks like 4th eBird record in December for SMC)!
