Observation details
*uncommon and getting late; nearing the end of their “expected” window as an overshoot migrant - not too many of these breeding north of here. Singing male associating with blackpolls and yellow-rumps, mostly in the tall pine just upslope from the construction site but occasionally moving into one of the lower pines next to it. Cooperative for almost thirty minutes while the flock shrunk, eventually leaving the yellow-throated warbler all by itself, and soon after it flew off to the east, towards 67th and Colonial. One of the finest parulids, it was lovely to get to watch and listen to it for a good thirty minutes given how elusive they often are. Photos and audio
