Observation details

While scanning the multiple roosting cormorants upon arrival Hunter noted that one of the birds was much larger and had no obvious tail but we couldn't pinpoint what it was since its head was tucked in. Grayish brown color made me think maybe a giant juvenile GBBG but was too big for that. eventually it brought its head out and I got a good look at the dot eyes to confirm species. It got up, did a lap around the marina, stretched and struck some great poses, then rested again. Plenty of photos. Had sleet earlier in the day, might've been pushed up river from that. 4th county record and potentially first Hopewell CBC record!!
