Observation details
Only seen from the back, so separating it from Changeable was not straightforward. It dropped down into the valley after a few minutes, not showing the underparts. I first had to show it to the group and only then I could digiscope it (too far for the regular camera). I was only able to make a few shots. Large and powerfull, with a large head and very strong bill. Crest not raised, but it seemed on the short end for Changeable. Iris orange-yellow (seen well through scope, perhaps less evident on photo; I noticed that before I even knew it was a feature). Remarkably dark face, especially the cheek. Left unidentified in the field, but I had a nagging feeling about it. Consulted fellow leader Dave Farrow who has way more experience with this species than I once I got home and he confirmed my suspicion: Legge's!
