Altercation between a lark sparrow (left) and the longspur (right). This also shows plumage differences. Enlarged considerably from the original.
Observation details
Seen on the field with lark sparrows; frequently overlapped with cowbirds and blackbirds. Similar in size to the lark sparrows. Surprisingly tricky to separate from the lark sparrows, but the facial pattern was different, contrast on the face less pronounced than with the sparrows, did not have the bold chest spot, buffy head.
