Observation details
Foraging in the field together. I don't have much experience with the subspecies differences, but the lighter bird appeared to be a Western based on the pink bill contrasting with orange legs and broad flank stripe. Based on input from Aidan Kiley and Alex Lamoreaux it turns out all three are Western. From Aidan: "combo of light color, long thin necks, broad flank stripes, broad fringing above, and bill color all fit western". Alex added that there can be significant variation in color, with males often darker bodied and orange-billed.
