Observation details

Continuing second calendar year. Fantastic views feeding in the outflow, rapidly pecking at the surface. Really advanced looking, even to the point of the second-generation primaries having worn tips; retained juvenile p10 and brown juvenile greater primaries visible when wings spread); black in in primaries extensive without prominent white between that and the grey. Dark grey of tertials and inner secondaries with a brown wash. Black hood quite extensive, enclosed bold white eye crescents, blotchy on throat and foreneck. Slight flush on breast (presumably not staining from turds etc).
