Observation details
**Continuing local rarity (first Manhattan record!) found yesterday by Junko Suzuki. Foraging by sight along the edge of the infield grass - very plover-like, almost phalarope-like - eventually coming fairly close and giving excellent looks. Beats the hell out of seeing one a mile away on a sod field. Absolutely exquisite and enchanting. Observed for twenty minutes before the sky opened up and it began to pour, but the bird seemed to be continuing to forage when we left. Extremely active, ranging widely across the fields, and very difficult to digiscope.
