Media notes
A SEPL that is superficially similar to the CRPL -- especially with its orange legs -- but is not the same bird. Field marks shown distinguishing this SEPL from the CRPL, include: yellowish eyering; white behind the base of its bill; a smaller bill with pink at the base; significant white patch behind its eye; different breastband pattern.
Observation details
As precise a count as I could obtain. They are in a variety of plumages, a couple showing darker faces and/or orangish legs approaching that of the Common Ringed Plover, but close study revealed some combination of yellowish eye ring, white behind the bill, and/or more white on the face. In addition, the structure of the SEPLs tend to be more round-headed and petite than the CRPL. Quite a few of the SEPLs showed yellowish legs and photos revealed more extensive webbing between their toes. Photos included of a sample set of the SEPLs present.
