Observation details
Adult. Hiked circuit 2 to the summit of Machu Picchu Mountain. While enjoying the view, I looked up and there was an Andean condor just 100 feet (30 meters) directly overhead. Huge size with "long-fingered" wingtips and white collar evident. However, it caught a thermal updraft and quickly soared higher. I feel very fortunate to have observed the condor so close initially.
