Observation details
I regularly explore my local area by bicycle to look for birds. Yesterday I had a brief, uncertain view of this bird, but it flew off before I could confirm the ID. Today I revisited the same spot with extra caution and finally managed to observe it well and record a clear video. Based on the buff-toned face, dark eye-stripe, streaked upperparts, and short straight bill, this individual is confidently identified as Baillon’s Crake (Porzana pusilla). A typically secretive species that rarely comes out in the open, making this sighting quite special.
