Observation details
Continuing by the gate to the Calera Creek Trail. While I was trying to decide whether to enter the gate, the bird ran up to me, but then it retreated about nine feet. It foraged there for several minutes. I left after fifteen minutes when I got tired of taking pictures, but the bird remained. A Savannah Sparrow was nearby for a good comparison. The Vesper Sparrow is slightly larger and has a prominent eye ring and a rufous patch on the wings.
