Observation details
We eventually got good looks at this small, short-tailed warbler with a triangular bright lime green patch on the back, two bold white wingbars on a gray wing, yellowish band across the breast, and white below extending all the way to the undertail. It had white eye arcs on a gray face. We had familiarized ourselves with its call notes and flight calls ahead of time. Heard first calling once in a narrow space between the two southernmost poplars bordering the west side of Eric and Mary‘s yard. It was on the ground acting like it was going to come in to their front yard which is one of its preferred areas. But it saw us and flew in the opposite direction, landing in a small poplar tree in the empty lot next-door. Then it flew a short way south into some taller trees in the yard next-door where we got much better views.
