Observation details
Ongoing. Originally found Monday Dec 8th by homeowners Alma & Harold Whalen. Thank you to both of them for welcoming us into their yard to view this incredible record! Passerine, similar in size to the juncos it was hanging out with. Tiger striped head, bright peachy orange breast with white undersides. The peachy breast gradually faded into a brown along the flanks with some dark marks/streaking at the lower end of flanks. Pointed bill One bright white wingbar. Back was a complex pattern of peachy orange with black markings throughout. Did not hear it vocalize. Present throughout the entire observation time but often sticking back in the pine trees out of view and coming down to feed once in a while. Second record for the province!
