Observation details

Juvenile. Large shorebird, but not as big in appearance as MAGO. Bill shorter than that of MAGO but still long. Mostly black with basal 1/4 or so pinkish mostly on lower mandible. Pattern smooth in general. Upperparts grayish brown with some black markings on back and scaps visible in good lighting. Head grayish white prominent white supercilium, largely in front of and over eye. Foreneck and chest gray with pinkish-buff wash. Belly paler gray with more obvious buff wash. Folded primaries black and clearly protruding beyond tertials.
